Raleigh Petteway

PETTEWAY, RALEIGH, passed away Sunday, October 28, 2012 due to lung cancer. He was born in Lakeland on April 3, 1929 to Charles N. and Frances Petteway. Raleigh attended Lakeland High School, Florida Southern, and graduated from the University of Florida in 1950. He went to work for Travelers Insurance Co in Tampa and became the youngest Claims Manager in the company. Transfers took him to Orlando and Ft. Lauderdale where he retired in 1991. He and his wife, Marian Toothman Petteway returned to Lakeland where they opened
Reflections of the Past. Raleigh was preceded in death by his wife, Marian; and a son, Walter Raleigh Petteway, III. He is survived by children Sandra Hodgens, Susan
Caudill, Thomas Petteway and Mary Petteway; sister, Nell
Petteway Talcott (Ron Talcott) and niece, Nell Elizabeth Talcott
Breckinridge. Raleigh also leaves behind four grandchildren, Brian and Katie Caudill, and Kyle and
Kevin Petteway. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Good Shepherd Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave. Auburndale, FL 33823. Arrangements by
Gentry-Morrison Cremation Center.
