Robert Eugene Hewitt

HEWITT, ROBERT EUGENE, 85, of Winter Park passed away at his home on March 21st 2013. Bob was a renaissance man--a military officer, a scholar, an artist, an avid reader, a world traveler, and the father of many. He was born in Chicago in 1927 where he grew up in the city and on a farm. At 17 he joined the Navy and went to war in the Pacific rising to the rate of Master Chief Radioman. He was commissioned into the officer corps in 1964 and retired as a Lieutenant. He served in World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam. Bob moved to Winter Park in 1969 where he worked for Army Times Publishing Company as Southeast Regional Manager. He earned a Bachelor of Science from UCF, worked as an accountant, and opened his own business--Bob's Book Nook. He enjoyed painting, reading, and traveling with Mary, his wife and best friend. Together they trekked across all 50 states and most of the world. Left to remember him are his beloved wife Mary along with three sons--David Arthur,
Daniel Everett, and Douglas Vinton; and five daughters--Teresa
Neumann, Jane Bounds, Laurel McNaught, Frances Helferich, and Diane Randall. In addition Bob has 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren (Landon and Lainie the cutest great grandchildren on the planet). A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at St. Augustine Catholic Church in Casselberry on Saturday, April 27th at 2:30 p.m.
