Roman Bednarz(1924 - 2014)

Bednarz, Roman Mr. Roman M. Bednarz, age 89, of Lake Hope Drive, Maitland died June 7, 2014 at Florida Hospital - Altamonte in Altamonte Springs, Florida. Mr. Bednarz was born on December 31, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois, the son of Michael and Anna Bednarz. He served in the U.S. Army during the Normandy Invasion and received the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He moved to Florida in 1986 from Wauconda, Illinois. He had been a meat manager in Chicago, Illinois prior to his retirement. He loved the Chicago Cubs. He was a member of St. Mary Magdalen Church of Altamonte Springs. He is survived by two daughters, Jacqueline (Salvador) Leccese and Janice (Arthur) Meenk; seven grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great great-grandchildren and one sister, Dorothy (Ben) Norkus, many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy; a daughter, Donna Ondo; three brothers and three sisters. Friends may call on Tuesday, June 10th at St. Mary Magdalen Church of Altamonte Springs, 861 Maitland Avenue, Altamonte Springs, FL 32701, time to be announced Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Tuesday, June 10th at the church. Entombment will follow at Deltona Memorial Gardens in Orange City, Florida.
