Doris Kenton Obituary

KENTON, DORIS KELL, Windermere, went home to be with the Lord on January 11, 2011. She was born to V. and Effie Kell on July 29, 1930 in Hazard, Kentucky. At an early age her family moved to Lexington where she graduated from school, met and married Bill
Kenton, "the love of her life". Doris and Bill were dedicated Christians and devoted parents to their three children, Matt and Kathy Kenton and Patti Glenn (Clifton). Bill and Doris celebrated their 58th anniversary in 2009, shortly before the death of her husband; also preceding her in death was a sister, Irene. Doris' two greatest joys were cooking for her family and friends and signing to beloved deaf friends. She was very active in the Deaf Ministry in her church and her talent was an inspiration to all. Doris is survived by her children; three grandchildren; Lindsey Johnson (Brandon), Patrick and Deanna Glenn. Also four nieces and brother-in-law, George, and his wife, Sally. Funeral Services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, January 17, 2011 at First Baptist Church of Central Florida. Family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers we ask donations be made to the First Baptist Church of Central Florida Deaf Fund or Hospice of the Comforter. Arrangements entrusted to Woodlawn Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road, Gotha, FL 34734. 407-293-1361. Condolences may be offered at www.woodlawnfuneralhomegotha.com.

Doris was always the epitome of a lady, and she and your Dady were always so sweet to my family. Both of them touched so many lives in such a positive way, they will both be long and fondly remembered.

Matt, Kathy & Patti - my most sincere regards to all. It's been many many years I know, but I have fond memories of vacations in years past. There really aren't words to ease the pain of a loss like this, but wrap yourselves in your memories, and know my thoughts and prayers are with you. -Phyllis Hood-Beck (New Port Richey, FL)

Doris was very special to our family. My parents, John and Ruby Brown, thought of Doris and Bill as their best friends. She was like a second mother to me when I was young. She is in a better place now and I know she is at peace.

Doris was a generous Christian lady who loved the Lord and her family to the utmost. Doris taught me the importance of maintaining a sense of humor at all times. In our last conversation Doris said, "there isn't anything in this world that will help a person feel good as much as laughter, except for prayer." Doris, I will miss you.
