We are so very sorry for your loss. It was a joy to know Mrs. Alma these past few years. You have all been so kind and generous to my Mother; a reflection of a Mother's love and a life well lived. God Bless all of you at this sad time.

To Stephen and family of Mrs. Whitaker, we extend our sympathy and prayers on your behalf. I enjoyed visiting Mrs. Alma in the nursing home these past few years. She was a delightful lady.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Mrs. Alma Evolia Blake Whitaker a loving Air Force wife who provided dedicate service to her country, her community and her family. To her family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Alma. And to Alma it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank her for her devotion to her husband, her family, the U.S. Air Force and her country. Only a military wife knows the difficulties and great sacrifices associated with rearing a military family that relocated frequently and that often included long separations from the one they loved most and anxious moments of concern for their safety. Alma we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,307 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Alma’ family and loved ones.
