Duane Lee "Boots" Bailey Notice
Bailey, Duane Lee ("Boots"), 86, passed away on November 6, 2012. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Patricia, to whom he was absolutely devoted, often declaring that "marrying Pat was the smartest thing I ever did." He leaves his children, Michael (Marie) and Sandy Lipten (Mark), whom he cherished, amused and supported unconditionally, and his grandchildren, Amy Lawton (Steve Illsley) and Sam Lipten, whom he loved extravagantly. He adored his older brother Mac Bailey (Marjorie), who preceded him in death, and his little sister Letha Gebhardt (Albert) of Cedar Springs, MI. Duane was raised on a farm, graduated from Michigan State and was a financial advisor. He was a member of Royal Oak (MI) Lions until 1975 and of Casselberry (FL) Rotary since 1976. Duane is remembered for his vitality, friendliness, dedication to service and love of a good laugh, particularly at his own expense. Prone to launch into song or verse at the least provocation (or sometimes none at all), he leaves us with the echo of his favorite declaration: "This is the day that the Lord has made! Let us rejoice and be glad in it!" In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Rotary Club or Westminster Presbyterian Church, both in Casselberry. Memorial service 10 a.m., Saturday, November 17, DeGusipe Funeral Home, 9001 N. Orlando Ave. (17-92), Maitland, FL.
