John Giordano Obituary

Giordano, John John Louis Giordano II was born in Staten Island, NY, the younger son of John & Carmella, brother to Victor D. His grandfather founded Jordan's Bakery, a Staten Island institution. On Saturdays, John helped his father deliver bread. Thus began John's lifelong work of delivery to the public. John met Barbara Ballentine in 1949, beginning a 66 year loving relationship which included 61 years of marriage. John was a combat veteran in the Korean War. Upon honorable discharge, he began a career spanning 32 years as a USPS letter carrier. His tenure as President of Florida State Association of Letter Carriers for 28 years was unprecedented, and recently, he was awarded title of President Emeritus. He is survived by wife Barbara, son John III, daughter Julia, son-in-law Darrell Rudd, and grandsons Jordan and Jacob Rudd. John passed away October 2, 2015. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to Hospice of the Comforter, 480 W. Central Pkwy, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714. His life will be celebrated at a funeral mass at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1020 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714 on Oct. 22nd at 1:15 pm, followed by a reception in Padre Pio's Place, adjacent.

I had the opportunity to work with John on the State Board for many years. John loved representing letter carriers, but that love came second to his love for his wife Barbara and his family. I've enjoyed keeping in touch with John and Barb through our annual Christmas Card exchange. John and Barb will always hold a special place in my heart.
