Phyllis Kolseth Obituary

KOLSETH, PHYLLIS A., age 91, of Winter Park, FL, passed away October 25, 2012. She was born on December 13, 1920, in Manchester, England. Phyllis worked in the Clayton Analine Chemical Works for 15 years and was temporarily assigned by the British Government to work in a munitions factory early in WWII. In 1942 she volunteered for service in an American Red Cross facility as a dance hostess, where in 1946 she met an American Air Corps GI, John B. Kolseth. They dated for three months, at which time he was transferred to the Nuremberg area of West Germany and subsequently was returned home. They started up a letter correspondence, which lasted nine and half years. In July 1955 John returned to England on vacation and visited Phyllis in Manchester. They met in the Manchester rail road station where upon they simultaneously realized that they belonged together. They married three months later at the First Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD on November 4, 1955. Phyllis is survived by her loving husband of 57 years John B. Kolseth, three daughters Carolyn (granddaughter Danielle), Karen and Shelley. Her departure occurred exactly 57 years after her arrival in N.Y. on the USS United States. Funeral Services will be held at the Collison Family Funeral Homes Howell Branch Chapel, Monday, October 29, 2012, at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers you may donate to Vitas Innovative Hospice Care, 2201 Lucien Way, Suite 100 Maitland, FL 32751, phone (407) 875-0028. Interment will be held privately at Druid Ridge Cemetery, Baltimore, MD. Arrangements entrusted to COLLISON FAMILY FUNERAL HOMES HOWELL BRANCH
