ROBERT M. BRIDWELL Notice
Bridwell, Robert M. (Bob), 77, of Altamonte Springs, died Monday, April 29, 2013 after a long battle with COPD. Born in Atlanta, GA, he attended Auburn University and graduated from Georgia State University, after serving four years in the U.S. Coast Guard. Bob is survived by his wife, Sue Bridwell of Altamonte Springs; his son Bruce (Annette) Bridwell of Gainesville, FL, his son, Ken Bridwell of Sanford, FL and his daughter, Jennifer Bridwell (Neville Hamblin) of Milford, CT. Bob began his career teaching English Literature at Marist College in Atlanta. He later joined the Educational Book Division of Prentice Hall Publishing Co. as an editor. He then developed and operated a marina and boat sales company, which later became Green Turtle Bay Resort and Marina in Western Kentucky. From there he and his family moved to Tampa where he opened Florida Marine Sales, specializing in offshore racing boats, luxury performance cruisers and high-end houseboats. He then joined Cypress Gardens Skis as General Manager. One of his proudest moments during this time was being interviewed and quoted by Forbes Magazine. He later was named President of Medalist Industries, Water Skis and Football Helmets division. Bob eventually formed his own company, Sports & Marine Marketing International, specializing in fishing, hunting and water sports products. Bob was a problem solver, a mentor, an avid fisherman and a great cook. He will be sorely missed by his family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Maitland Presbyterian Church, 341 N. Orlando Ave., Maitland at 4 pm on Friday, May 3, 2013.
