On the occasion of the funeral of our beloved Bishop
Richard Allen Chappelle Sr, we join the family, the entire
African Methodist Episcopal Church and friends in
remembering him with fond and loving memories.
We remember with warm-hearted recollections the
sacrifices, dedicated service and love which he showed to
the people and the Church in Africa during his eight years
[1984 - 1992] of pastoral duty to the 17th District of the great
African Methodist Episcopal Church.
We are praying for comfort and strength for Mother
Barbara Chappelle, the family and the Church, during this

To Mother Barbara Chappelle and Kristen Nicole.
I have realised that this funeral will not be complete without an input about experiences of this great Son of Africa, for his roles in the Continent of Africa and also the effect he has had on my life. Many members of African Methodist Episcopal Church in Africa have given testimonies to the effect that Bishop, Dr Richard Allen Chappelle,Sr. whose body is lying here now has brought education and administration in the A.M.E. Church as a whole.
Most people in Africa understood their Church and its administration under the leadership of Bishop Chappelle. He was indeed a prophet of God.
As his secretary for the 17th and 18th Districts I saw how he worked and dedicated his life to his work. I saw and witnessed much developments to the Districts. I have learned alot and I will always treasure his teachings for the rest of my life. During the time that I travelled with him (them) in the remote areas (undeveloped) he never complained about anything. He ate what people ate and never not in any discussion complained. Really he was dedicated to his work and to his God.
For me, this man picked me up, trained me and worked for him all his time he spent in Africa. I grew both spiritually and mentally under his leadership, that conforted my whole family and because this was the man who in a way appreciated the role of my father Dr. J.L.C. Membe in Central Africa. His life and his death means alot to my family and the whole entire District.
My Brother and Sisters passed their condolences, they would have been here if they had an opportunity to come but they have failed to come.
I wish the family of Bishop R A Chappelle, Sr. Mother Barbara Chappelle and Kristen Nicole God's comfort in this time of sorrow.
May the soul of Bishop Chappelle rest in peace and God bless.Hildah Membe.
