Abe O. Wise Notice
Wise, Abe O.90, of Orlando, Florida, passed away September 26, 2013. Born to O. Z. and Fannie Wise in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on October 24, 1922, Abe is survived by Tess, his loving wife of 63 years, 2 children, Steven (Leora) and Ellen (Mark Lang), 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. After serving in WWII, Abe settled in Orlando. He started a real estate and construction business with his twin brother, Zelig Wise, with whom he was in business for 60 years. Wise Brothers initially built low cost housing for returning GI's, then created new neighborhoods, invested in groves and raw land, and built industrial warehouse complexes. More than a successful businessman and devoted family man, Abe was a community leader in greater Orlando. Abe served as President of the Homebuilders Association and served on the Orlando Planning and Zoning Commission. He was one of the original founders of Temple Israel, the Jewish Community Center, Kinneret Senior Housing, the Hebrew Day School and the Holocaust Center. He was instrumental in finding the land and overseeing construction of the original buildings for each of those institutions. Abe was the patriarch not only of his family but also of the Orlando Jewish community. Funeral services were held at Temple Israel Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Beth Shalom Memorial Chapel, Orlando. 407.599.1180.
