Bob CHAUVIN Obituary

CHAUVIN, BOB, transitioned on Saturday, May 14. Bob was born in Morristown, NJ and moved to Florida in 1970. Bob was a taxidermist for over 50 years. When he was 14 years old, he was the youngest ever to complete the Course for Taxidermy in the United States. He served in the U.S. Army for six years working as a Medic for a short while, but transferred to the Military Police working in Manhattan until the end of his enlistment. Then he went to work at the world-famous Jonas Brothers Taxidermy Studio, in New York. Eventually, he opened his own taxidermy studio in White Plains New York. Bob was a writer and wrote many articles for Breakthrough Magazine. Bob was also an artist and you can still see his cartoons in Breakthrough Magazine. He also had a book published "Modern Taxidermy" and, recently, had an article published in "Reminisce" magazine. He was a photographer for several years in NY and Fort Lauderdale and had the opportunity to work with many celebrities like Julie Newmar, Martha Raye and Joan Blondell. Bob loved law enforcement and was a CoP for the Seminole County Sheriff's Office for about ten years. He loved doing his job as an Elder Crime Prevention Practitioner and as a Victim's Advocate. Bob is survived by his wife of 30 years, Sandy; his sister-in-law, Carol Windham and her friend, Angie Brown of Gainesville, FL; his brother-in-law, Mark Windham and his wife, Lydia, and their son, Matthew, of Jacksonville, FL; three stepchildren, Chuck Wildes and his wife, Claudia, of Boynton Beach, FL, Kenny Wildes and his wife, Jean, of Hattiesburg, MS and Cindy Wildes-Smith and her husband, Jason Smith, of Bowling Green, Ohio. He is also survived by his cousin, Peter James and his wife, Sally of Woodcrest, CA and their two sons, Andy and Chris. Also six step-grandchildren, Joshua Wildes, Brittany Wildes, Hunter Smith, Michel Plata, Vanessa Plata and Melissa Plata. By his request, in lieu of a funeral, donations may be made to the (NLEOM) National Law Enforcement Memorial Fund - Division of Development, 901 E. Street NW, Suite 100, Washington, DC 20004.

As Wilbur the pig thought of Charlotte, "It is not so often that someone comes along who is a true friend and a good writer. (Bob) was both."

You are cherished and you will be missed.

Be Still My Soul Hymn

Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly Friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.

Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice Who ruled them while He dwelt below.

Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.

Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.

Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise
On earth, be leaving, to Thy Lord on high;
Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,
So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye.
Be still, my soul: the Sun of life divine
Through passing clouds shall but more brightly shine.

I will miss Rolando's enjoying plantains, Black Beans and Rice, and pollo con amarillo del arroz! That was our special place w/out Mom (only b/c she didn't like Cuban food like we did!)

Thank you for placing the "1978" penny in my glass of water to remind me when you first entered our lives in Plantation, and for finding my blue gloves that I've been missing since January 10, 2011! This won't make sense to anyone, but just know that I know and that I also know you are safe and at peace. Wish I could be as pain-free as you are now! You are loved and missed more than you'll ever know! I guess I'll have to go to Rolando's by myself whenever I visit mom! Don't worry. I'll always save a seat for you! Pennies or not, you can visit me anytime, Bob!

Love,
Your (step) Daughter,

Eating at Smokey Bones will never be the same without my buddy, Bob. We'd enjoy lunch then sit and chat, solving all the world's problems. I'll miss his sly smile and sense of humor. We know, Sandy, that he is finally without pain. Our memories will help sustain us during the sad moments.

Bob, my 'mate' from across the pond.
I valued your friendship so much my friend and I will miss you dearly. If we are placed on this earth for a reason yours was to show us all what a true gentleman was. I now have another 'Angel on my shoulder'
You are at peace now and heaven will be a far better place with you being there.

Dear Sandy and family,

We have been friends for over 30 years. When you met Bob - you met your love. Please remember all the wonderful memories.

The world is a much dimmer place without you, Bob. You are loved and will be missed always.

To Sandy and the family, all of us who knew Bob share your grief. He was truly a remarkable man who had a heart bigger than all outdoors. It is my prayer that our Lord will keep you strong and faithful during the trying times ahead and that He will heal your broken hearts.

God bless you, Sandy, and rest in peace, Bob.

And, my brother in law, Bob,also loved to fish! I'm going to miss my fishing buddy! I have the six pound bass that I caught hanging on my porch wall that Bob surprised me with one day in the mail. He had taken my fish, mounted it for me on a beautiful piece of wood and mailed it to me in 2007. Now Bob can go fishin' anytime without any pain on the "other side". I know you're at peace now, Bob.
