Dorothy Asquith Notice
ASQUITH, DOROTHY, 86, Orlando, went to be with the Lord on October 30, 2012. Dorothy Mae (better known as Dottie) was a true Orlando native, born in the heart of the city on Central Ave. in 1926. She was the "preserver of family tradition and values." She was happily married to a wonderful Christian man, Leonard Asquith for over 56 years and had two beautiful daughters. She attended Hillcrest Elementary, Cherokee Junior High, and Orlando High School (now Howard Middle). She touched multiple lives through teaching Sunday School and singing in church choirs for over 73 years. She was a lifetime member of First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. It was there where she met and sang with her beloved husband Lenny. Later she and Lenny joined their family at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. She was an avid member of Orlando's Society through her memberships with the Rosalind Club, Sorosis Club, Ruth Circle and the YMCA Wisemen and Wisemenettes. She always carried a beautiful smile, gave a sweet treat and extended an uplifting word. Dottie shared many of her passions with her family and friends. She was a devoted prayer warrior, studied the Word daily, and loved working in her rose gardens, "God 's Green Earth." She was an amazing cook and well known for her apple pie, banana and cranberry breads, chocolate chip cookies, gingerbread boys, blackberry jam and her delicious orange marmalade. She was predeceased by her parents, Chauncey and Esther, her brother, Jack, her husband,
Leonard and her grandson John. She is survived by her daughters, Cindy Walsted (Ken) Lakeland and Ann Cumbus (Robert) Orlando, her three granddaughters and their husbands, her eight great-grandchildren and her niece and nephew who all rejoice and celebrate with full knowledge that she has begun her glorious life with the Lord. She is missed tenderly. Dottie drew strength from Phil. 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" A Celebration of Life service will be this Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11:00am at Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, following a Visitation from 10:00 to 10:45am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her memory to Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church. Blessings!
