(WHITMARSH) WALLS, born June 24, 1921 to the late Carrie and George Walls, in Chester, PA. Graduated from Eddystone High School in June 1939, the third child from the "Eddystone Villages" to ever graduate from High School. Attended Pierce School of Business Administration and Columbia Institute for Secretaries in Philadelphia. Worked for Biological Abstracts at the University of Pennsylvania, where she started as a bibliographer and later became librarian. During World War II she had the only key to the cabinet where the smuggled in medical journal microfilm from Japan, Germany, Russia, etc., was stored. Moved with husband Phillip (deceased) to Fort Lauderdale, FL in May 1956. Retired from Broward County School System in June l980. Moved to Sunlake Mobile Home Park in Lake Co., FL in June of 1981. Served as chairman of the Social Committee as well as chairman of the craft group for several years. Became of member of the Lake County Retired Educators Association and volunteered in local school libraries first at Mt. Dora High, then Eustis High School and Umatilla Middle School. For many years she played piano for Sunday morning services at the community church. She also belonged to the local quilt group and made a number of quilts that she gave to friends and family. Survived by daughter, Nancy, of Winter Park; and son, Charles, of Sebastian. She also had one granddaughter, Tara, of Sebastian. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday, May 27, at the Clubhouse at Sunlake Estates from 1 to 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to Cornerstone Hospice, (2445 Lane Park Rd., Tavares, FL 32778) or Umatilla Middle School Media Center (305 East Lake Street, Umatilla, FL 32784).
