Jean Boardman Obituary

BOARDMAN, JEAN
ELIZABETH, was born in Kenmore, New York to Dr. Samuel and Mrs. Elizabeth Moore. Jean attended medical school at the University of Buffalo and subsequently chose a career as a medical technologist. She worked first at the Meyer Hospital in Buffalo where she met her husband, Dr. Will Boardman. She moved to Daytona Beach in 1952 and worked at the Halifax Hospital. Jean and Will were married in Daytona Beach on October 13, 1956, and settled in Winter Park to raise three daughters: Lori, Lisa and Amy-all of whom became physicians. In addition to being active in the Orange County Medical Society, Jean was a dedicated wife and mother who participated in school-related activities during her daughters' school years. She was an avid gardener who enjoyed travel and reading, but most treasured her role as loving companion to her husband, Will, to whom she was married for 55 years. Jean is grandmother to Hanna Cody, age 17 (Lisa), Zoe Devona, age 11 (Dennis and Lori), and Will, age 12, and Sophie Collins, age 9 (Robie and Amy). She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Olivia Trout Nishimura Boardman (Lori) and her brother Thomas Owen Moore. Jean fought Alzheimer's Disease with grace and resilience for over a decade. In honor of her, Jean's family would request that donations be sent to the Alzheimer's Association (www.alz.org) to continue the search for a cure. A memorial service to commemorate Jean's life will be held on Saturday, June 4th at 3 p.m. at the Winter Park Presbyterian Church, 400 South Lakemont Avenue, Winter Park. Arrangements are entrusted to COLLISON FAMILY FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY (HOWELL BRANCH CHAPEL) 3806 Howell Branch Road Winter Park, FL 32792 (407) 678-4500

Lori,
Please accept my deepest sympathy for you and your entire family. I know that your mother was an extraordinary woman because she was a pioneer in medicine before the time for women had arrived. Also because she raised you and your sisters.
Fondly,
