Captain Julian Harvey Notice
Harvey, Julian Captain Julian R. Harvey, retired, Orlando Fire Department. Husband, Loving Father, Epic Storyteller, Grill Master, and Loyal Friend. Born March 21, 1931 in Orlando Florida. He graduated from Orlando High School, and married Frances DuRant on May 16, 1951. He joined the Navy and served on the Aircraft carrier Midway during the Korean conflict. After his service, he joined the Orlando Fire Department, and worked with the Fire Prevention Division. His keen interest in arson investigation led to the creation of the Arson Investigation Division. While working in conjunction with the Orlando Police Department, he envisioned the need to bring together both arson investigation and law enforcement. This led to him becoming a special deputy with the Orange County Sheriffs Department. He left an indelible mark on the field of arson investigation with educational seminars attended by thousands of investigators throughout the Southeastern United States. Before retiring, he developed an arson investigation department for the Florida Farm Bureau Insurance Company. He is survived by his wife, Frances Harvey, his son Randy Harvey, and daughter Vicki Stephens, along with their spouses, children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Orlando Fire Fighters Benevolent Association.
