Ken Brewer Notice
Brewer, Ken 56, passed peacefully on 28 August 2014 at his nursing facility in Atlanta after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. Born in Washington, DC, Ken lived throughout the Southeast with his parents who were Officers with the Salvation Army. In 1976 Ken enrolled at UCF where he became a life-long member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon (SAE) Fraternity and in 1980 earned a degree in Accounting. Ken's Accounting career began with 3 national firms in Orlando and culminated in 1990 with his own firm with 3 partners. In 1998 Ken began a career in banking, joining Citrus Bank then Orange Bank until 2008. From 2009 until PSP disabled him, Ken was an Auditor for the Salvation Army in Charlotte & Atlanta. Ken was an accomplished golfer at Arnold Palmer's Bay Hill Club where he loved competing in the "Shootout". When fortunes & life turned for Ken in 2009, his spirits and determination were lifted-up by the outpouring of support and love from the Bay Hill, SAE, Business, and Salvation Army communities. Services will be held in Atlanta on Monday, 8 September at 11am at the Salvation Army Church at 2090 N Druid Hills Rd NE. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army Atlanta Temple Corps or the CurePSP foundation. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Patsy and Ken, Sr. and brother-in-law Steve Lanier. Ken is survived by his sister Sheila Lanier, sister Cindy Brewer-Gordon, and daughter Alexandra.
