ALCORN, JR., JOSEPH N. died at his home in Winter Springs, Florida Wednesday, Sept. 29, 2010. Joe was born Nov. 5, 1917 to |
Joseph and Mary Alcorn in Bell Township, PA. In 1940 he married Jane Lynch Alcorn, who preceded him in death in 2006. He graduated from Penn State University in 1941 with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering, and he was employed for many years with the Pittsburgh-based firm, Dick Corporation. Joe served in the United States Marine Corps during the Second World War. He was a 50 year member of the Free and Accepted Masons. He is survived by four children, Joseph N. III (Nick) Alcorn and wife Carol of Saltsburg, PA, Penelope Alcorn of Naples, FL, Candace Alcorn of Oviedo, FL, and Kathryn Bailey and husband, Charles of Oviedo, FL. He has 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Bash Neid Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont, PA. Phone 724-468-8381. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 8 from 2 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at
1 p.m. at Poke Run Presbyterian Church, and burial will follow at the Poke Run Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Apollo, PA.
