Mildred "Millie" Dunk Notice
Dunk, Mildred MillieMildred "Millie" Dunk, 93, Leesburg, FL passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. She was born in Syracuse, NY and moved to Leesburg in 1960. Millie worked for the government during World War II at Robins Field Air Force Base, GA. She loved the field of nursing and volunteered for the Red Cross. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg. Millie was the first woman Commodore of the Leesburg Boating Club, past president of: the Leesburg Woman's Club, B. P. W. Club, Golden Lakers National Campers and Hikers Assoc., and the Happy HoedownersSquare Dance Club. She was employed by Florida Greeting Service, and a former writer/photographer for the Orlando Sentinel. Millie is survived by her three children: Bill (Suzanne) Gainesville FL, Barbara Hitchcock (Rudy) Umatilla, FL, Nancy Humes (Larry) Leesburg, FL, eight grandchildren, and twelve great grandchildren. She is also survived by two brothers: Leland Mitchell of Baldwinsville, NY, and Jack Mitchell of Forestport, NY. A memorial service will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg on Lone Oak Drive, Tuesday, July 1st, at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The First Presbyterian Church of Leesburg or Cornerstone Hospice, Tavares,FL. Online condolences may be made at www.beyersfuneralhome.com.
