Fricke, Henry Henry R. Fricke passed away on Monday, May 25, 2015. He was born on October 12, 1922 in Glen Cove, LI, NY. He graduated from Sea Cliff High School, was a graduate of the US Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, LI, NY with a commission of Ensign US Naval Reserve and a third assistant marine engineer license issued from the U.S.C.G. any horse power any ocean. He sailed as engineer on various ships for the war shipping administration during WWII. He retired from the sea in 1955 having sailed as engineer aboard ships of Grace Line and United Fruit Company. He was employed as a stationary engineer by the NY and NJ Port Authority for the new heating and refrigeration plant in conjunction and expansion of NY International Airport. Henry retired from the Port Authority at JFK International Airport in 1984 as Chief Supervisor of one of the largest combination plants in the world (at that time) in generation of high temperature water in BTU's and refrigeration tonnage. During his tenure the Port Authority awarded Henry the Distinguished Service Medal. He held a commission of Lt JG in the United States Marine Service inactive, a Chief Marine engineer license and stationary engineers and refrigeration licenses for the City of NY and the State of NJ. Henry was a member of the United States Merchant Marine Alumna Association, the Navy League, National Association of Uniform Services, US Merchant Marine Veterans, a WWII Veteran, past Vice President AARP Chapter 64, and President of Neighborhood Watch. In 1989 Henry and his wife moved from their home in Glenwood Landing, LI., NY to their home in Deltona, FL. Henry was an avid golfer and past member of the South Ridge Golf Course, Deland, FL where he made his 1st hole in one. Henry is survived by his lovely wife Delphina; daughter Christy Vick (Tom); sons Robin, John, Gary (Doreen); six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Henry has requested no formal service. The family request a memorial to Henry with a contribution to the US Merchant Marine Museum at the United States Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point, LI., NY 11024-1699
