Stephanie Greco Larson Notice
LARSON, STEPHANIE GRECO, 51, of Carlisle, passed away Sunday at her home after a long illness. She was born on February 27, 1960 in New York to the late Martin Greco and Diana (Brooks) Greco of Rockledge, FL. She grew up in Florida, where she received her B.A. in political science and communications from the University of Central Florida. She earned her M.S. and Ph. D. in political science in 1983 and 1987 from Florida State University. Stephanie was an assistant professor at George Washington University, before settling down in Carlisle, PA and Dickinson College. She was promoted to full professor of political science at Dickinson in 2004. Stephanie was an author and nationally recognized scholar in her field, with numerous books and peer-reviewed articles. She led study abroad programs in Australia and England, participated in faculty intellectual exchanges in Toulouse and Bologna, and served as coordinator of several Dickinson academic programs and initiatives. Her wit, perception and analytical skills enabled her to be a successful leader, friend and colleague. In addition to her mother, Stephanie is survived by her husband, David Srokose of Carlisle; her brother, Marcus Greco of Rockledge, FL; her sister, Connie Greco-Gryder of Huntsville, AL; one nephew, Lee Gryder; one niece, Nichole Greco; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Memorial services will be held on July 23, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the Stern Center Great Room at Dickinson College in Carlisle, PA. Arrangements by the Hetrick-Bitner Funeral Home, Harrisburg. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to the Stephanie Larson Scholarship Fund.
