Lynn "MotherGoose" Shenefield Notice
SHENEFIELD, LYNN
"MOTHERGOOSE", was a professional storyteller who waddled around Florida for over 24 years telling stories, singing songs, and imparting gentle life lessons to children and adults. Lynn said that "being MotherGoose was a honking, er, calling that fed her inner child and that there was nothing else in the world she would rather do than to hear and tell tales." Her eclectic style was evident in her colorful, elegant costumes and her amazing sense of humor and whimsy. She proudly worked for the Orange County Library System where she encouraged learning language and literacy while she created a fun atmosphere for children to learn listening and social skills. She knew the power and importance of words and chose them carefully. Lynn was giving and forgiving and got great joy by spontaneously giving things to others. She was exceptionally funny and knew how to turn a phrase. She had a quick wit, and often a silver tongue. As a final epitaph, she said, "Tell them that the Goose has been cooked." (her words) Her Indomitable Spirit and love of storytelling kept her going through the last five years while she battled Inflammatory Breast Cancer. "Never Give Up and Never Surrender" was her motto, not wanting to give up the ghost and persevering even in her final days. She died peacefully on January 24 with her beloved daughter reading her stories, listening to Italian music, and quiet time with God. She is survived by her daughter "Jake" Haralson; granddaughter Kendrah; son-in-law Kent; her big brother Harry Jr. "The King" DiMartino, and younger brother Rocco DiMartino. Her friends and family love and miss her and even though her earthly chapter has ended we know a new one has begun. To be continued......
