Notice Condolences

SOULE, SHIRLEY ELAINE
ELLISON,
On January 18, 1927, a most Caring Soule was born in Cleveland, OH, to Frank and Carol Ellison, as little sister to Stewart and Bob, who all predeceased her. Shirley grew up to become an Accountant but her true calling was helping others. In 1953, she moved to Orlando and spent a great deal of her free time giving back to the community via several causes and organizations, such as the Mayor's Veterans Advisory Council and Christian HELP job fairs. As part of the Greatest Generation, Shirley exhibited true patriotism every day and in 1974 became a very proud Lifetime Member of VFW Post 2093, Ladies Auxiliary, where she served as Treasurer for several years, as well as District President from 1977-1978 and 2003-2005. Shirley loved to travel, explore and educate. She was a group travel leader and taught 55 Alive for over 16 years with the Winter Park AARP group. Shirley's greatest pride and joy was her family, where she defined unconditional love. Shirley leaves behind: a beloved daughter, Barbara Lee Calvert, whom she raised on her own; two adored granddaughters, Michelle Elaine Crabtree and Meredith Rene
Chapin; a son adopted in her heart, Mike Payment, his wife Adair and their entire loving family; generations of nieces and nephews; family and countless friends. On Saturday, September 8, Shirley became a monarch butterfly by flying away to another world cocooned with love and in peace and dignity. Services to honor Shirley's wonderful life will be held on Sunday, September 16 at VFW Post 2093, 4444 N Edgewater Dr. at Noon, with visitation beginning at 10 am. A Celebration of Life will be held at the VFW immediately following burial at Woodlawn. In lieu of flowers,
Shirley and her family request donations be sent in her honor to Carole Hulvey, Treasurer at 526 E Esther St, Orlando, FL 32806-4024, made payable to "Ladies Auxiliary VFW Post 2093" and designated as "Cancer Aid and Research Fund".
