Ralph Leonard Offer Notice
OFFER, LIEUTENANT
COLONEL (RETIRED) RALPH LEONARD, 78, of Altamonte Springs departed on Thursday, October 25, 2012. He was born in Washington, D.C., raised in Annapolis, MD, the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leon Offer, Sr. He was educated in the public schools of Annapolis, MD and he went on to receive his Bachelor of Arts Degree from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL. Lt. Col. Offer (Ret.) is survived by his beloved wife of 39 years, Lorraine, four children, Yvette Workman, Denise
Nwaezeapu (John), Charlotte Wheeler (Robert) and Dorothy
Stephens (Nate). Mr. Offer is also survived by his brothers, Leon
Offer, Fayetteville, NC, Larry Offer, Annapolis, MD and sister, Brenda Abney, Annapolis, MD and predeceased by his brother, Calvin Offer, Annapolis, MD and first wife
Gaynell Cooper Offer. He also leaves 10 beautiful grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews, and sorrowing friends. As a veteran of the Vietnam War, Colonel Offer received The Bronze Star Medal for meritorious achievement in ground operations against hostile forces on December 23, 1966. He was also a recipient of The Army Commendation Medal 1st Oak Leaf Cluster and a meritorious service award in 1977. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army for 20 years. Ralph Offer was also a faithful member of St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Orlando, where he served as a trustee and served in the music ministry as a member of the Male Chorus and the Inspirational Choir up until his illness. Offer was a 58 year lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. serving twice as Polemarch of the Orlando Alumni Chapter. A public viewing will be held Friday, November 2, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at St. Mark A.M.E. Church in Orlando. The celebration of life service will be held at St. Mark A.M.E. Church on Saturday, November 3, at 11:00 a.m., Reverend Terrence R. Gray, Senior Pastor. Mr. Offer will be interred at Bushnell National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida at a later date.
