Notice Condolences

MCEWEN, WILLIAM C. "BILLY", was born in Avon Park, FL on August 4, 1922 and entered into Heaven on November 5, 2012 in Clermont, FL. He was a beloved husband, father, Grandfather and friend. He is survived by Cleda, his loving and devoted wife of 49 years; sons, William C. McEwen, Jr. (Diana), Terry C. McEwen (Yvonne), David W. McEwen (Terri) and grandchildren, Taylor, Tanner, Trace, Connor, Dave and Kara along with several nieces and nephews. He was a proud Marine and served his country during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a loyal patriotic man who loved God, his country, family, friends, golf and the automobile business. Golfing was his all-time favorite thing to do; he was an excellent golfer and would rather be on the golf course than any place. After graduating from the University of Florida, and serving active duty in the Marines, he began his automotive career in 1949 in Jacksonville at Lynch Davidson Ford. In 1955 he began his 36 years with the Cadillac dealerships Claude Nolan, Nolan-Brown Motors and Williamson Cadillac, retiring in 1991. He loved the automotive business and felt blessed to have worked for such fine dealerships. He was a Mason and a member of the Riverview Lodge #306, A.M. Scottish Rite of Freemasonry and a Shriner of the Mahi Temple. He will be remembered as an honest, mild-mannered man of strong character and high morals who set a wonderful example for his sons and grandchildren to follow. We will always remember you, love you and miss you. GO GATORS and SEMPER FI. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012 at 3 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 950 7th Street, Clermont, FL. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to the Mike Conley Hospice House, 2100 Oakley Seaver Dr., Clermont, FL 34711.
