Dennis "D.E." Reese Notice
REESE, DENNIS "D.E.", 70, passed away November 18, 2012, in Eustis, FL. D.E. was born in Inverness, MD, January 27, 1942, to Clayton B. and Lillian S. Reese. In 1955, the family moved to Orlando, FL, where D.E. attended Boone High School. After graduation, he entered the U.S. Army where he was honorably discharged in September, 1960. He then worked as a Machinist at Martin Marietta until the late 1960's. He started his Law Enforcement career with the FL Game and Fresh Water Fish Commission as a Game Warden and worked there for over 10 years. During his career there, he became a FL Certified Hunter and Firearms Safety Training Instructor. D.E. continued his Law Enforcement career as a Deputy Sheriff for Lake County Sheriff's Office in the Grove and Ranch Division, also teaching firearms safety classes to the public. He briefly worked in the service department at Bill Bryan Chrysler Dodge in Leesburg before working for the Fruitland Park Police Department. While at Fruitland Park, he worked his way up from patrolman, eventually becoming Chief of Police and served in this capacity for several years. Later, after leaving the Fruitland Park Police Department, he was hired at Police Chief of the Mascotte Police Department, where he ended his over 30 year career in Law Enforcement. Along with his passion for Law Enforcement, he was also passionate about guns, as his expert knowledge of firearms made him a sought after gunsmith; working for several area gun shops. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association. Other hobbies included restoring antique cars and he was a member of the Uniques and Antiques Car Club. D.E. is preceded in death by his parents, Clayton and Lillian, and his brother, Ronald A. Reese. D.E. is survived by his wife, Carole; two daughters, Denise J. Barker and Rhonda L.; and son, R.A. (Dawn); step-son Steven K. Krieger; and grandson, Lucas A. Barker. Visitation will be held at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg on November 26, 2012, from 6 - 8 p.m. Funeral service will be held at Beyers Funeral Home in Leesburg on November 27, 2012, at 1 p.m. with Chaplain Bob Whitworth from the Lake County Sheriff's Office officiating. Burial will follow at Shiloh Cemetery in Fruitland Park.
