He attended Texas Wesleyan University on a tennis scholarship, graduating in 1954 with a degree in Business Administration. Bill then served two years in the U.S. Army at Ft. Monroe, VA. He married Tommie
(Harmening) Brey during that time, returning to Ft. Worth, TX in 1957 to begin his long and successful professional career with Montgomery Ward. In 1968, Bill and his family moved to Chicago, where he eventually assumed the sales and promotion responsibility for the catalog operation of Wards. After 24 years at Wards, Bill accepted the position of President & CEO of Restonic Corporation, an international bedding manufacturer with offices around the world. Retiring from Restonic in 1996, he and Tommie moved to the Country Club of Mt. Dora (FL) after having lived in Park Ridge, IL for over 30 years.
