Harold Lloyd "Hank" Garrett Notice
GARRETT, HAROLD "HANK" LLOYD, passed away on Monday, April 1, 2013 at his home in Winter Springs, FL. Born February 14, 1931 to Gorman Lee and Velma Carter Garrett, Harold was the third of four children and lived his earliest years in Snowden, VA. A man of dedicated service, Hank served 23 years in the United States Navy. He served throughout the duration of the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was decorated with the following honors: the Navy Occupation Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal (twice), the National Defense Service Medal (twice), and the Armed Forces Expedition Medal. Upon his retirement from the Navy, Harold had achieved the rank of Chief Master Operations Specialist, the highest non-commissioned rank of E-9. It was on August 23, 1953 that Harold married the love of his life, Patricia Campbell, in Brooklyn, NY. Love and loyalty proved unbreakable through their 60 years of marriage. From their marriage arrived the joys of their four daughters, six grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Harold and Patricia have raised their family from their home in Winter Springs, FL. Harold pursued higher education upon his exit from the Navy. A Florida Technological University (UCF) Alumnus, he graduated Summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration on December 12, 1975. After receiving his degree, Hank worked as an Administrator of Auditing Finance for the Orange County School Board for 17 years. Hank enjoyed spending time hunting in the mountains with his brother, Roy, and teeing up on the green with his fellow golfers. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign War and the American Legion. Harold will be remembered by his loving wife, Pat, and their children: Kathleen Garrett, Laureen and her husband, Eugene
Moscater, and Denise Randolph. Additionally, he is survived by his grandchildren: Bethanie and
Garrett Randolph, Jacalyn Bryant, Michael and Kelsey Moscater, and Tricia Garrett, as well as his great-grandchildren: Alysa Murgo, Olivia Bryant, and Patrick Randolph, his sister, Lois Turner and his brother, Roy Lee Garrett. Harold was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Murgo, and his brother,
Jessie James Garrett. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to the Hospice of the Comforter or the Seminole County Humane Society in memory of Hank.
