Laird L. "Butch" Lane Notice
LANE, LAIRD L. "BUTCH", Senior Master Sgt, USAF Retired died March 31, 2013 after a full and hearty life. Sgt. Lane was born April 6, 1926 to Lt. Col. Charles P. and Blanche (Wake) Lane at Ft. Atkinson Hospital, Jefferson County, Wisconsin. Laird was a graduate of Jefferson High School, attended Whitewater State Preachers College and a graduate California Air College. He served in W.W.II aboard a destroyer escort in the European Theater of operation, performing anti submarine and convoy escort duty. After the war, Mr. Lane returned to the States and was employed as a Telegrapher for the Milwaukee Road Railway. Traveling to California, Mr. Lane was employed by Flying Tiger Airways in Burbank, Calif. In 1950 Mr. Lane joined the U.S. Air Force and was sent to Japan as a member of the Japanese Defense Force in support of the Korean War. Upon return to the States, Mr. Lane was assigned to the Strategic Air Command, Command Post. Mr. Lane was subsequently employed by the State of Florida as a Environmental Health Inspector for Hotels and Restaurants in Orange, Polk, Lake and Sumter Counties, and all of Osceola County. He retired in 1989, and assumed residence in Kissimmee. He was also a private pilot and a golf instructor from 1950 - 1978 as well a Life Member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars. Mr. Lane is survived by his loving wife of 31 years,

Eldridge-Bickley (Phil) and 6 grandchildren. Predeceasing Mr. Lane was his daughter: Deborah Ann, son: Lance Lane RDM U.S. Navy, Vietnam; brother: Thomas Lane USAF (Ret) and parents: Lt. Col. Charles P. and Blanche W. Lane, (Army Air Corp.) A Service to Celebrate the Life of Laird L. "Butch" Lane will be held on Saturday. April 6, 2013 at 2 P.M. at Conrad & Thompson Funeral Home with Pastor Peter J. Zieg officiating. Inurnment will be at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida on Monday, April 8, 2013 with the U.S. Air Force conducting Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to VITAS Hospice, Charitable Fund, 5151 Adanson Street, Suite 200 Orlando, Florida 32804.
