Dr. Robert G. Hicks Notice
HICKS, DR. ROBERT G., 69, passed away Friday, April 5. Dr. Hicks, the son of Grace M. Hicks and Lt. Col. William B. Hicks, a career Air Force officer, was born in Long Island, N.Y. in 1943. As an Air Force dependent, Bob attended elementary schools in post war Japan, New York and High School in Massachusetts. Bob graduated Wake Forest University in 1965 and attended the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry, graduating in 1969. Immediately following graduation from UNC, Dr. Hicks served honorably for two years in the U.S. Navy. Upon his discharge from the service, Bob entered into a private Dental practice in Orlando. In 1975 Bob enrolled in the prestigious St. Louis University School of Orthodontics, earning his degree in 1977 and returned to Orlando to open an Orthodontic practice, which he operated until his retirement in 2012. Bob was an accomplished amateur golfer, regularly making the trek to Scotland with his son Ben to play all the legendary courses. He competed in many State and local events, winning several area amateur tournaments (Pine Meadows Invitational and Silver Lake Invitational) and was a member of Rio Pinar C.C. where he won the Club Championship 3 times. In addition, Bob was a long time member of Interlachen C.C. He is survived by his wife, Linda, two sons Bobby and Ben, a cousin Susan Stanley (Jack) of Cape Cod, MA, several Brothers and Sisters-in-Law and countless friends throughout the area. Family and friends are invited to attend A Celebration of Life, which will be held at Interlachen C.C., 2245 Interlachen Ct., Winter Park, on Saturday, April 13, from 1p.m. to 3 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to .
