Nick Cindric Notice
Cindric, Nick at 97 years old passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, in Eustis, FL. A longtime resident of Mt. Dora, FL with his loving wife, Marie Cindric who predeceased him in March 2014. Born and raised in Phillips, PA with 7 siblings, he was a proud participant in FDR's Civil Conversation Core, and later served from 1942-45 in the First Army, 26th Infantry Division during World War II. He rose to the rank of Staff Sargent, and saw action in the European, African, and Middle Eastern Campaigns. He was awarded the Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart for his actions in combat, and was among those soldiers who landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day in Normandy, France. In 1946 he returned to the States and worked for the State Department in Detroit, Michigan. There he met the young and vivacious Marie Bezesky at a USO dance. The couple was married within the year and moved to Eustis, FL where he and his father-in-law ran a fishing camp. Moving back to Detroit in 1949 the couple made their home in Redford, Michigan where they raised three children, Sandra (Ralph Rognerud) Castle Rock, CO, Joanne Hicok, Sarasota, FL, and Nick (Laetitia Cindric), Ft. Lauderdale, FL, who survive him. He developed and owned his own home repairs company and worked in the Dearborn Michigan School System. He loved the outdoors, tending his yard, and joking with everyone who he encountered. He will always be remembered as a good man, devoted husband, and loving father. Also in mourning is his brother, Joseph Cindric, Uniontown, PA, and his grandson, Christopher & wife Tammy Liss, and four great grandchildren of Traverse City, MI. Nick and his wife were devoted members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Mt. Dora, FL, where a service will be held in celebration of his life on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 9:00 am.
