Irene (Borchardt) Stevens Notice
Stevens, Irene (Borchardt)83 years of age, of Oviedo, FL (formally of Kenosha, WI) passed away on March 27th, 2014 after a long illness. Irene was born on 9/24/1930 in Merrill, WI. She graduated from Colombia Hospital School of Nursing, Milwaukee, WI in 1951 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison and Marquette University. She met Robert (Bob) Stevens, the love of her life and life-long dance partner, at a dance at the Memorial Union at the University of Wisconsin. They married in July of 1954 and lived in Milwaukee where Irene worked as an RN for the Milwaukee County Public Health Dept. In 1958, they moved to Kenosha. While living in Kenosha, Irene was active in her church, the First Congregational Church of Kenosha, loved to play tennis, camp and hike. She was a gifted seamstress. Bob and Irene raised three children and owned and operated Bob Stevens Pharmacy. In 1991, they retired and moved to Oviedo, FL. Irene, loving wife, sister, aunt, mother and grandmother, is survived by her adoring husband of 59 years, Robert (Bob) George Stevens. She is also survived by her sister Joan (Borchardt) Sapp of Greenville, WI, her sister-in-law, Shirley (Langhoff) Borchardt of Merrill, WI, her son Captain Rom A. Stevens, Medical Corps, US Navy, and daughter-in-law Dr. med. Marianne Mikat-Stevens of Indian Head Park, IL; son Dr. Matthew H. Stevens and daughter-in-law Nicola (Matthews) Stevens of St. Paul, MN; and daughter Julie (Stevens) McLean and son-in-law Gary McLean of Geneva, FL, seven grandchildren, nine nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on May 3 at 10AM at the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo located at 263 King Street in Oviedo, FL 32765. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Hospice of the Comforter or to the First United Methodist Church of Oviedo.
