Lester Austin Jr.

Notice Condolences

AUSTIN, JR., LESTER, "No one could have a better daddy" said the children of Lester Austin, Jr. a lifelong resident of Winter Garden, FL, who passed away peacefully in his home on April 13, 2003. Mr. Austin, an active member and retired deacon of Beulah Baptist Church was a second generation citrus grower who loved his groves and loved his work. Supremely skilled in every aspect of his operation, Lester could work the land, design and machine a tractor part or handle the marketing of his product with equal success. The entire community knew what an avid hunter Lester was and his skill as a marksman is legendary. A charter member of the Central Florida Rifle and Pistol Club, he represented the state of Florida eight consecutive years in the national high power rifle competition at Camp Perry, Ohio. His hunting trips, spanning several decades, took him to South Carolina, Colorado, Wyoming, Alaska, Canada and the continent of Africa where he hunted as a member of the Safari Club International. It's not possible to overstate the importance of family in his life. Married to Billie Ruth Austin for 62 years, together they presided over a loving family five generations deep. Mr. Austin is survived by two children living in Winter Garden, his son Lester Austin III and his wife Nannette, Billie Clyatt, his daughter and her husband Dudley, and from Cincinnati, OH, his daughter Beverly and her husband John. He also leaves eight loving grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, Neil Austin of Hendersonville, NC and a host of nieces and nephews. Lester Austin Jr. will long be remembered for his strength, his talents and his dedication to his family. Funeral services for Mr. Austin will be held at 11AM on Thursday, April 17, 2003 at Beulah Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Rice officiating. Interment will follow at Winter Garden Cemetery. At the request of Mr. Austin, there will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Comforter, 595 Montgomery Rd., Altamonte Springs, FL 32714 or Beulah Baptist Church Building Fund, 671 Beulah Rd., Winter Garden, FL 34787.
