CORRIGAN, Bertha Lillian (nee Brett)
Veteran, Federal Public Servant.
Very peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, just shy of her 91st birthday, Bertha passed away on March 30th after a very admirable courageous, week-long fight to recover from cardiac procedures. Predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years Victor Searle (Corkie) and her sister Dora Louise Brett of Winnipeg. Survived by her sister Florence Maud Courtney of Round Hill, NS. Kind, caring and PROUD mother of Andrew James (OFS District Chief, Retired), his wife Line (The beautiful daughter she never had), and her loving, excellent-care- giving son Daniel David, all of Ottawa. Kind, loving, PROUD grandmother of James and Douglas. Bertha was an RCAF WD Sgt. Med A at RCAF Stns Rockcliffe and Winnipeg during WWII, and also worked for the Federal Government Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development for 17 years. She also was a member of the Elizabeth Park Protestant Chapel choir for 40+ years. Her devotion to her Lord, her family, and the Canadian Forces was unwavering. We would like to thank Drs. Froeschl and Haddad & their teams, as well as nurses: Jennifer (ER), Trish, Karin, Karla, Dawn, Heather, Michelle, Lori, Jed, Susan & Sandra of the U. of O. Heart Institute (RRC, CCU-A). Despite her age & severe complications, these excellent professionals never gave up on "Mom", and gave her every gram of their care trying to ensure she survived. Thanks to the Civic Campus staff for many caring life-saving treatments over the years. Many thanks to Dr. Peter Teitelbaum and his staff for decades of family medical care. Jim & his family would like to thank Dan for giving "Mom" a home and more love and care than anyone could ever expect from a son, which allowed her to live her last 12 years in comfort, security and happiness.
