VON BAEYER, Beverley (née Robinson)
December 2, 1920 - October 31, 2013
Raised in the West, Beverley retired to Low, QC in the beautiful Gatineau Hills. She came to Ottawa in 1942 as a CWAC (Canadian Women's Army Corps) where she met and married journalist Gérard Morin of Saint- François de Montmagny, QC. Widowed at age 43, she worked as a secretary, and later in public relations and journalism. She met her soulmate, Dr. Hans J. von Baeyer, a telecommunications engineer, in 1966. Hans and Beverley shared a love of travelling, nature, conversation, good friends, food and wine. Enthusiastic and outspoken, generous to a fault, Beverley loved reading, gardening, weaving, and helping Hans manage the forested land around the cottage. Inconsolable after losing Hans in 1998, she picked up her courage and continued to reach out to friends old and new, enjoy new experiences, and maintain the tradition of opening their home for joyous gatherings. As dementia set in, she asked about Hans daily, and daily mourned his loss anew. Beverley leaves behind numerous relatives in the von Baeyer, Morin and Robinson clans, from her sister Mukti Lok (Vancouver, BC) to seven great-grandchildren (Kenya and Angola). Her five children (Gisèle Morin-Labatut, Yolande Morin, Yseult "Zazie" Neto-Kiambata, Yannick Morin and Eric Morin) thank staff at Wakefield Memorial Hospital for their compassion and gentleness and Drs. Pérez and Saint-Amour who were so patient and generous with their time. We are grateful for the many friends who brightened her last years. Friends are invited to visit at the McGarry Memorial Chapel, 139 Valley Road, Wakefield, QC, on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Monday from 1 p.m. until the Memorial Service at 2 p.m., followed by a reception. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Wakefield Memorial Hospital or to a charity of your choice.
