LOMER, Gail (nee Johnston)
Passed away peacefully Saturday, March 23rd at Garry J Armstrong nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Survived by husband of 30 years Gordon Lomer, children Bernard, Andrew (Meghan) and Virginia Ray and Michael Gagnon, sister Clare Moore (Steve) and brother Bobby Johnston (Willi), grandchildren Aidan and Willem Ray, stepdaughters Karen and Dawn Lomer, nieces and nephews. Predeceased by son Jeffrey and first husband Bernard (Bunny) Ray. Under the professional name of Gail Ray, she was a prolific Ottawa artist known for her vivid trompe l'oeil, sculptures and papier mache, and depictions of marine life in the Bahamas, where she lived for many years with her husband Gordon. Special thanks for the caring attention Gail received at Starwood and Garry J Armstrong nursing homes over the past two-and-a-half years. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry 315 Mcleod St. (at O'Connor) on Wednesday, March 27th from 12 – 2pm. Celebration of life will follow in the chapel at 2pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.
