MacDONALD, Lt.Col William Graham
"Bill" (ret'd) CAF, 84 of Glenelg
Passed away March 23, 2013 at the QE 11 VG site, Halifax, Nova Scotia surrounded with family. Born in Goldenville he was a son of the late Wallace and Alice (Mitchell) MacDonald. Colonel Bill served in the CAF as a Firefighter for 33 years retiring as CAF Fire Marshal in 1978 at which time he moved home to Glenelg. Colonel Bill was active during his life- time in many organizations and associations including President of the Canadian Association of Fire Chiefs, an adherent of the Glenelg Presbyterian Church, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 56 Sherbrooke, Heritage Goldenville Society, Fire Chief of the St. Mary's District Fireman's Association, the Greenfield Oldsters Club, Guysborough County Business Development and Lifeline Volunteer to name a few. He was not only proud of his family but also of his community. He is survived by children: Barrie, Ottawa; Paul (Kathy), Ottawa; Alan (Anne) Glenelg; Mary Lou, Ottawa; Mark (Kathy), Ottawa; Nancy (Brent) Kennedy, Glenelg; 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, siblings: Helen (Bruce) Archibald, Glenelg; Grant (Audrey) Elmsdale; Earl (Sharon) Antigonish; Betty (Alex) MacKenzie, Antigonish; Ralph, Antigonish; many nieces and nephews, special companion Beth (MacLaughlin) MacKay, Bible Hill. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years Yvonne (LeBlanc) in 2004 and a sister Joan (MacDonald) Sutherland. Cremation to take place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9pm Wednesday at the Glenelg Presbyterian Church, Glenelg from where a memorial service will be held 2pm Thursday with Debbie Stewart presiding. Burial of ashes will take place in the Riverside Cemetery, Sherbrooke.
