Hans AGGARWAL Obituary

Published by Ottawa Citizen on Mar. 4, 2017.

AGGARWAL, Hans Suta
January 18, 1965 – March 1, 2017
We are heartbroken to announce the passing of Hans Aggarwal of Ottawa at the too- young age of 52. She died peacefully at home as she wished, surrounded by loving family and friends. Hans showed us all how to confront the terrible adversity of cancer with courage and grace and a passion for living life to the fullest, right to the very end.
Hans was the daughter of Omkar Aggarwal and Premlata Aggarwal (nee Gupta) of Ottawa; sister to Naval Aggarwal of Virginia, and the loving wife of Philip Vincent of Ottawa; sister-in-law to Susan and Jim Bridgeman of Ottawa, and to Krista Aggarwal of Virginia, and a cool role model aunt to Laura and Erica Bridgemen and to Kyra and Karina Aggarwal.
Born in Nairobi, Kenya, Hans lived most of her life in Ottawa. She graduated with a BA in Business and a Master's Degree in Management Studies from Carleton University.
She was a business analyst by profession: a very good business analyst, a leader in her field who taught others and set the standard for excellence with her clients and co- workers. She worked hard to keep her promises. As an independent consultant, she worked with many, many clients, and often developed close friendships through her work.
She had an infectious and memorable laugh.
Hans enjoyed encountering animals in the wild: kayaking with whales on both coasts, meeting bears and elk on hikes through the Rockies, mingling with the massive migrating herds and their predators on the Serengeti, and bird watching just about anywhere. She loved to cook and to entertain family and friends either at home or at her cottage on Birch Island on White Lake. She was a bit of a daredevil, and was usually the first in her family to undertake "risky activities", whether trying out exotic culinary dishes or off-trail adventures, or hanging off the CN Tower, just for fun.
Hans' real passion was art. She developed her talent later in life and was an avid participant at local Ottawa-area art shows and sales. She experimented with mixed media and some of her works were described as "captivating" and "stunning".
Special thanks to her in-laws Susan and Jim Bridgeman and their daughters Erica and Laura who enjoyed rich adventures with Hans during their childhood years and then took such good care of her in her final days. Thanks to Nutan and Arvind Aggarwal of Atlanta, and Koki and Anoop Khanna of Waterloo, Ontario for their care and support, and to other family and friends who helped bring love, kindness and joy to her final days as she relinquished the burdens of this life.
Friends may visit at the
Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes
3440 Richmond Road (Nepean)
(between Bayshore and Baseline Road)
on Monday, March 6, 2017 from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. A celebration of Hans' life will take place at Pinecrest Remembrance Services, 2500 Baseline Road on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at 10 a.m.
Hans was particularly concerned with the well-being of family and friends who suffer from mental illness. In lieu of flowers, and to honour her memory, she asked that you reach out to someone you know who is dealing with mental illness and give them your love and support.

Hans, Hans, Hans...

How can it be that you've been gone a year already?

In my mind, I can still hear your laugh, I can still sense/feel your zest for life; it's surreal to me that you are no longer 'with' us. On some level, I still can't believe it.

I toasted your memory tonight... had every intention of drinking a chocolate martini, but in the end, I couldn't bring myself to do it, and settled on a shot of Irish whiskey instead.

My thoughts go out to Phil, and the rest of your family tonight... these anniversaries can be especially hard.

Phil,
There is not a day that I don't think of your, our, dear Hans. She was everyone's Hans. I see and feel her soul in nature all around me. God we will her physical hugs and hearing her beautiful laughter. But she has become my guardian angel and I ask her for her quidance every day with our human challenges. Every one who dies leaves an imprint in the loved ones losses. But Hans has left A HUGE IMPRINT IN OUR LIVES ABD HEARTS. She will never be forgotten. Special sympathies go out to Phil her husband who loved Hans so much and was so good to his wife; and to Hans dear mother.
Keeping you all in our prayers everyday.
In every cardinal, sunrise or sunset I feel Hans close by us all.
Love forever,
The Costigan family ( Madeline, Brian, Tammie and Paul from Montreal).

I met Hans at work. It didn't take long to build a friendship, one of trust, respect and fun. She was a great coach and we had so much fun and shared so much laughter. She was a wonderful person. I am a better person and a better process analyst because of Hans. Thank you for being there when I needed someone for guidance. You will be missed.

I first met Hans and Phil in 1991 at Rockwood and both Sue and I enjoyed keeping up with both over the years. She lived a full life, had a beautiful laugh and will be missed by many.

Hans and I met in a professional context but it didn't take long for us to become friends. While we met for coffee/dinner only a few times a year, it felt like no time passed between those events. She was a beautiful person, intelligent and creative. My condolences go out to her family and friends. I'm saddened to know that the world is now missing one of the best. I will miss you always Hans.

I got to know Hans from the IIBA Ottawa chapter meetings. She always spoke with such passion and her laugh was awesome! Hans was at the top of her profession with the added bonus of being a wonderful human being.

Hans will forever be in my memories as a child. She was the best babysitter around! Always so much fun and she had the best laugh! I'm so glad I was able to remain friends with her all these years later. Phil, you and Hans complimented each other so well and built such a wonderful life. My deepest sympathies to you and all the family. She will be in our hearts forever.

Andrew and I enjoyed the times we visited with Susan and Jim Bridgeman and family and where we had the pleasure of meeting and knowing Hans. We are very sorry to learn that she was so ill and that her life has ended far too soon. I especially remember seeing a photo of Hans with a snowflake on her nose that was posted on Facebook. It showed how she delighted in winter here in Ottawa, Canada. Andrew and I send sincere condolences to all of her beloved family.
