HANNA, Kenneth Charles "Chad"
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Charles "Chad" Hanna, of Ottawa, who died peacefully on October 5, 2016 at the Civic Hospital surrounded by family. Ken was born on April 28, 1923 in Prescott, Ontario to Charles and Cassie Hanna. With the RAF, he flew a Typhoon on 127 missions and received the Distinguished Flying Cross (DFC). With a survival rate of 50%, he was one of the very lucky to return home and marry his high school sweetheart, Dorothy LaCasse of Brockville, ON. They had two children, Chris (Sue) and Marsha and lived in Belleville until the death of Dorothy in 1960. Ken had joined the Metropolitan Life where he achieved Millionaire status. He married Jacqie Banks Roy in 1962 in Ottawa, and merged her family, including Patti (Kim) and Mikey (Ken) before having a child of their own - Karen in 1964. Cottage life and sports brought the families even closer. Ken started what would become a passion for biking and cycled on tours around the world well into his 80's. He also enjoyed his golf and followed many sports. He would speak about his world experiences to groups at his retirement home (The Palisades). Ken leaves behind grandchildren - Andrea Wilson (Iain), Jeff Cooper, Cody and Cassandra Ratcliffe, Rebecca and Jonah Shaffer, Hilary and Jocelyn Baker. Charlotte, Jillian and Hannah Wilson are his three great- grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Howard (Heather) Hanna and Marge Logan. His remaining years were spent with best friend and confidant Betty Bartlett. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playflair and McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Conner), on Wednesday, October 12 from 11 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service in the Chapel at 1 p.m.
