Wow, I totally lost touch with John over the years, didn't even know he had cancer. My last contact with him was an email in January of 2013. John and I went through Cornwallis together and Tel Op training in Kingston, and worked together here in Ottawa in 1996-98. He will be miss, he was a good man. My belated condolences John's family. RIP John.

Remembering you today and always Uncle John. Always counted on you for great advice. Going to miss your skype calls from around the world, and your late night pull-ins to the cottage after driving all night. You will never know what it meant to me that you made it to my wedding(I know you had to jump leaps and bounds to get there)...so happy and proud to call you my favourite Uncle, and friend. Love you forever and ever. -Brenna.

John and our computer programming group going to Red River College at night had a lot of fun. We studied and programmed together, played pool and drank beers at the NCOs club. We helped each other get through. John was always there for his friends. When he moved to Ottawa we would talk once in a while and catch up. John you were a great friend, ok programmer and one who we had good times with. I will miss you. God Bless you and Rest In Peace my friend.

My thoughts and prayers go to you Denyse and the Osgood family in this very sad time. I have had the pleasure of knowing John for the past 25 years and he was truly one of the best people I have ever met, he always had a smile on his face and was always helping others. We had some great times together playing many sports but it is the times spent socializing and having a few wobbly pops that I will cherish. You will be sadly missed my friend RIP

I met John through military hockey, after he had retired. He was a great team mate, always putting the good of the team ahead of personal goals (no pun intended). Our chance meetings over the past years were never planned, but John always had a smile and a huge "hi" for me, and always made me feel like a valued friend. My deepest sympathies for your loss, at much too young an age.

I have been having a hard time coming to grips with the loss of my (our) good friend John. Despite only seeing him at CFBLNet and CWID meetings and communicating via the phone/Facebook, he was like a brother to me and I have several life memories from our 6 years together in New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Netherlands and even here in Williamsburg. I had been following Denyse's reports on his progress on both Caring Bridge and FaceBook, and it appeared he had won the battle over cancer. I was looking forward to celebrating with him at next year's CFBLNet meeting. I still can't believe he is gone, and it will be hard going to any CFBLNet meeting and not seeing him there.

Denyse represented Canada at the 2008 CFBLNet meeting in Monterrey where I first met her and her father, and it was only a few months before I met John at CWID and our friendship began. He was a strong supporter of CFBLNet and he made a difference in my life. My heart goes out to Denyse and both of their families, and I pray and hope their family, friends and faith will help them and all of us through this difficult time. John will be sorely missed.

Leslie and I offer our deepest condolences to Denyse and the families at this most difficult of times. Over the last three years John and I worked together, I could always count on him to deliver when "the chips were down", and he never failed to tell me the "straight story" (whether I wanted to hear it or not). John was a great colleague, but I remember him most of all as a wonderful friend. Rest In Peace, good buddy.

I am still stunned by John's passing but I know he is in a much better place and no longer in pain. John was always willing to help anyone, he would give you the shirt off his back!!
