COOK, Geoffrey Cassels March 22, 1925 - March 1, 2010 Born to Helen Irvine Smith and Phillip Waldron Cook in Windsor Ontario. Peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. Vincent Hospital, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada at the age of 84. Remembered with love by Lenora Beth Preston, his wife of 57 years, and his three daughters and their husbands, Nancy (Diedrich), Kathy (Andrew) and Carolyn (Randy) and his three grandchildren Kaila, Gwyneth and Zephyr. He is survived by his brothers Christopher George Cook and Anthony Irvine Cook and their families in Montreal and Florida. He dedicated his life and career to Canadian service. After serving in the Canadian Army, he studied politics and international relations at McGill and Columbia Universities. He then served for 30 years as a Canadian foreign service officer. His career took him and his family to Ankara, Turkey, Washington, DC, USA, Quito, Ecuador and Madrid, Spain. Between foreign assignments and after retirement in 1981, Beth and Geoff enjoyed their wooded home in Rothwell Heights in Ottawa. We would like to extend our sincere thanks to all the care-giving staff at both the Montfort Hospital and St. Vincent Continuing-Care Hospital for the wonderful care they provided him during the last 20 months of his life. Friends are invited to visit at the St. Laurent Chapel of Hulse, Playfair, and McGarry, 1200 Ogilvie Road (at Aviation Parkway) on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 10:30am until time of Celebration of Geoffrey's life and achievements in the Chapel at 11:30am. Dear Beth,
I know that my mother would want to be there today. It is a very difficult and sad time. The loss of John is still so fresh for all of us.
