September 5, 1918 to May 9, 2015
Peacefully at the age of 96. Beloved wife of the late Ambassador John Stiles. Loving mother of Mark (Lee), Sandy (Debbie) and Janet (John). Dear grandmother of Dave (Aurora), Matt, Alice and Harry. Predeceased by her dear twin sister Betty and brother Peter. Loving Aunt Marna to many nieces and nephews. Proudly served in the WRCNS during WWII. Heartfelt thanks for the loving care to the staff at the Palisades Retirement Home. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the Hulse, Playfair & McGarry Central Chapel, 315 McLeod St, Ottawa on May 22, 2015. Visitation at 10:00, service at 11:30 and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, Memoriam donations to the charity of your choice would be appreciated.

On behalf of the Canada Korea Society, I would like to express deepest sympathy on the sad news of the passing of Margaret Stiles, wife of the late John Stiles, Canada's first resident Ambassador to South Korea (1974-1977).
The Stiles were a remarkable team who did much to help develop the Canada Korea relationship, both in Korea and later in Ottawa following the founding of the Canada Korea Society in Ottawa in 1984 by Amb. Stiles.
My husband Bob and I have special memories, having served with the Stiles in Korea and later by way of the Canada Korea Society which was founded to promote bilateral understanding, cooperation and friendship between our two countries.
Margaret was a true representative of diplomacy herself, always gentle, smart, organized and loving. We cherish our memories including their presence at our wedding in Seoul 39 years ago in Korea.

Our deepest sympathies to all of you at this time. We remember meeting your mom - sadly at Dorothy's funeral - and so enjoyed having had the opportunity to finally meet this wonderful woman who we had heard so much about. May the memories and stories you shared with us of her & your father bring you comfort in the days, months and years ahead. We can all hope to live such a long and wonderful life!
