PINHEY, Alberta Pearl
13 February 1914 - 10 January 2013
After a long and happy life surrounded by a supportive family, Alberta passed away peacefully, at the Civic Hospital. She was born to Albert and Pearl Gault in Upper Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia, oldest of 13 children. She moved to Ottawa in 1941 to marry John H. Pinhey, her best friend, who pre-deceased her 24 years ago, to the day. Alberta's life was devoted to teaching children - in the classroom, at Sunday school and with her growing family. She was active in her church, the Eastern Star and various outreach activities. She will be remembered for her warm smile and engaging personality. Alberta will be lovingly remembered by her brothers Glynn, Louis, Walter and Robert Gault, and sisters Etta Garnham, Irma Power and Audrey Foster; her children Carolyn (James Hurd), John (Barbara), Evelyn (Barry Viau) and Ruth (Malcolm Vant); her grandchildren Pamela Hurd (Derek Regalbuto), Deborah Hurd, Patricia Hurd (Kevin Antkoviak), Christopher Viau, Robert Hurd (Shannon Ryan), Kelley Pinhey (Shane Meunier), David Viau, Kathryn Vant (Andrew Davidson), Sarah Viau (Roch Garneau), Krista Pinhey (Dave Kirk), Jonathan Vant (Jacqueline Poitras) and Christianne Vant (Shawn Henry); her great-grandchildren Kelsey, Emily, Alexander, Sebastien, Zachary, Natasha, Owen, Patrick, Riley, Henry, Samantha and Emma; and many other friends and relatives. Alberta is pre-deceased by sisters Vera Duggan, Roxy Swan and Evelyn Mullen; brothers Charles and James Gault; and great-grandchildren Kyra and Peta Enoch. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor) on Tuesday, January 15th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm and on Wednesday, January 16th from 1:30pm until time of Service in the Chapel at 2:30pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
