FORWARD, Arthur Brown
Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia February 11, 1918, went peacefully to be with the Lord, February 12, 2014. Predeceased by his loving wife Jean (May 18, 2012). Cherished father of Robert (Monique Pelland), Elizabeth Cardarelli (Peter) and Hugh (Norma). Grandfather of Christine Scales (Nathan), Jane Pryor (Ian), Erin Forward (Philippe Gratton) and Tristan Forward. Great grandfather of John, Julian, Rosalyn Scales, Emma and Kenzie Pryor. Brother of the late Mary Ellen Van Horne (late Birchum) of Chilliwack and Charles Nelson Forward (Beverlee) of Victoria. Arthur joined the Air Force in 1939 and served overseas from May 1940 to Fall 1941. In Canada he trained others to service and calibrate aircraft instruments and worked closely on the development of an artificial horizon for aircraft. He received the Inventor Award while he worked for the Instruments Section in Mechanical Engineering at the National Research Council Canada from 1946 until retirement in 1978. A Memorial Service will be held at Mount Zion Church of the First Born, 715 St. Laurent Blvd., Ottawa Saturday March 8, 2014 at 11 a.m. Arrangements entrusted to the Kelly Funeral Home, Somerset Chapel, 585 Somerset St. W., Ottawa, ON.
