Peacefully at Providence Motherhouse, Kingston, ON, Sister Barbara Ann Keane of the Congregation of Notre Dame, died on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in her eighty- fourth year. She was predeceased by her parents Edward Keane and Esther Dunn, her sisters June Brodie, Lorna Donaldson, Sheila O'Connor and her brother Kevin Keane. She is survived by many nieces and nephews and grand-nieces and nephews and will be fondly remembered by members of her religious community, former students and collaborators in education. Sister Barbara was born in Ottawa and entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1951, making her Religious Profession in 1953. She was a life-long educator serving as a teacher and an administrator, beginning at Notre Dame High School, Kingston, followed by a number of years in Ottawa, finishing her career in several schools in Toronto. Friends will be received at the Township Chapel of Gordon F. Tompkins Funeral Home, 435 Davis Drive, (Taylor Kidd Blvd and Centennial Drive) Kingston, Ontario. on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013 from 2:00-4:00 pm and from 7:00-9:00 pm with Prayer Service at 7:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013 at St. Joseph Church, 392 Palace Road followed by the Rite of Committal Prayers in St. Mary's Cemetery, Kingston, ON.
