Retired Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of Canada
Former Member of Pineview Golf Club Ottawa
It is with great sorrow I announce the death of an amazing man, my father, on November 17th, 2012 at Palisades Retirement Residence in Ottawa. At 94 years of age, while resting in his favourite lounge chair, his life slipped away peacefully and with the dignity he so deserved. Predeceased by his beloved wife Kathleen (1998) and his two sons, David and John (2010) Survived by his daughter Patricia Louise (Bednarz), son-in-law John Gary and grandsons Ryan and Evan; granddaughters Sara and Annie, children of Lin Friel and the late John Hylton; daughter-in-law Maya and the youngest granddaughter, Emmanuelle Kathleen (5) of the late David Hylton. Emmy always put the twinkle in her Grandpa's eyes. This year David C Hylton celebrated 30 years of retirement from Pratt & Whitney Aircraft (Longueuil, QC), where he held the position of Chief Inspector, Purchased Materials. He enjoyed an active retirement, initially traveling the world and then taking up the challenge of Golf. He remained on the Greens at least twice weekly until 90 years of age. He attributed his good health to Golf, a good glass of wine and the medicinal power of well aged Scotch. My father cherished his family and friends both old and new. He considered himself blessed even when faced with poor health and family tragedy. He was admired for his strength, generosity, and positive attitude. He was thankful for each day and lived a full life. He will be very sadly missed. Heartfelt thanks to all the Health Care Professionals who did everything possible to maintain my father's quality of life over the past two years. Special thanks to Palisades Staff, to friends and "Table Mates" who made each day more enjoyable and interesting. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O'Connor), Ottawa, on Wednesday, December 19, from 9:30 a.m. until time of Service in the Chapel at 11:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Ottawa Heart Institute, Diabetes Association or Salvation Army would be greatly appreciated.
