EGAN, Donald J.
Former operator of Egan's Esso, Bronson and Gladstone, retired draftsman at Energy, Mines and Resources, longtime member and marshall, Edgewood and Manderley golf clubs. Peacefully on Wednesday, November 21, after a brief illness, age 82. Left behind are his much-loved wife of 59 years, Doreen (Frazier), his children Suzan and David (Susan Montgomery) of Vancouver, B.C., and Kelly (Laurie Fagan) and Norman, of Ottawa. He is predeceased by his son Douglas and daughter Julie and brother Gerry. Sister Noreen (Paquin), who survives him, was a constant loving force in his life. Fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Sonja, Erik, Will and Joseph, sister-in-law Barbara, and many nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the A5 team at the Civic and the May Court Hospice. Born and raised in Ottawa, Don was a good and modest man. A wonderful golfer and bridge player, he was a skilled fisherman, a keen gardener, an avid reader, and a devoted sports fan. But, in his words, the wisest thing he ever did was find Doreen, who held body and soul together, for a lifetime, as they vowed in marriage.
