KEMP, Frank William
Suddenly, on December 1st, 2012, Frank William Kemp of Ottawa, Ontario passed away in the company of family and caregivers.
Born in 1927 in Olds Alberta to Dorothy and Arthur Kemp, Frank was the middle child of brothers Gavin and Wally. His experiences in farm country with home built aeroplanes led him to a lifelong love of flight and an early career in the RCAF. Although poor eye sight prevented him from becoming a pilot, he found another passion in early computing. He later went on to work in the field of computer science for the Public Service of Canada, Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation and the National Capital Commission.
An avid hiker, he spent a great deal of time bushwhacking with the Rideau Trail Club. In retirement he travelled independently in China, Italy, France, the UK and elsewhere, often (somewhat to the concern of his family) by foot or bicycle.
Father of Patricia and friend to his son in law Leo, grandfather of Arthur, husband to Helen (deceased) and Bobbie (deceased). Brother to Wally and wife Del of High River, Gavin (Deceased) and wife Ruth, uncle to their many children and grandchildren.
The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Marianne Gissler and Conny Udri of Care Matters; Joanot Desca, Gloria Shaw and Helen Lopez of Community Nursing Registry; Lucie Martel and other caring staff at Carefor; Lucie Quinn for her thoughtfulness; and to the caring and compassionate staff at Perley Rideau Veterans Health Care Centre. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rideau Trail Association would be appreciated.
Frank's family invites you to a celebration of his life between 12 and 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 8th, 2012 at the home of his daughter. Please contact the family at 613-235-7568 or pat.masters- boychuk@rogers.com for details.
