Gordon (Bud) Allan, age 90, of Ottawa, Ontario slipped away peacefully on May 1, 2018, a mere 11 days after losing ‘Sis’, the love of his life for 66 years.

Admired, respected and loved by his family, he showed us many sides but make no mistake, he was always the boss. Proud to call him our Dad, he was a wonderful father to us; Judy (Greg), Janice (Bruce), Donald (Wendy). Extremely proud grandfather of Wendy, Erin (Tobias), Samantha, Patrick and great-granddaughter, Maggie Fay.

Raised in Kingston, son of Warden Richard Allan, he grew up just steps away from Kingston Penitentiary. He was an amazing athlete, highly competitive and recognized in many sports including basketball and softball in his younger days. As a curler, he enjoyed the game almost as much as the drinks and stories shared with teammates after the game. As a golfer, he was known to throw his clubs on occasion but played with faithful regularity until age 86.

His career in staffing relations began at the Canadian Locomotive Company in Kingston. Moving to the federal government in 1967, he worked for Transport and Treasury Board in labor relations and ultimately retired as Director General Staff Relations at the Department of Transport. He was a skilled negotiator, respected by both management and union leaders. To the frustration of many, his favorite word was “No”. A good listener and strong communicator, he could send a clear message with a look or a smile. He will be missed.
