BABCOCK, Grace M. (nee WHITE) 89, Bedford & Centre Burlington, NS, passed away peacefully in the Halifax Infirmary, Halifax, NS, with family by her side on Tuesday, July 3, 2018. Born in Ottawa, ON. She was the daughter of the late Wilfred and Florence (Johnson) White. She is survived by her sons, Donald, Bedford, NS; Gary (Teresa), Mississauga, ON; grandchildren, Craig MacGillivray (Meagan Louvelle), Carrie MacLeod (Rob Todd) and Kyle Babcock, four great-grandchildren; brother Don White (Ruth) and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Grant F. Babcock (2011) and her daughter-in- law Donna Osmond (2015). In addition to raising her family, Grace started her working career in Ottawa rising to the level of Supervisor in the Canadian Government's Census Department. In 1968, she moved to Hanover, ON to assist her husband with his new business as a Canadian Tire franchisee. As the business flourished, they moved to a larger store in Bedford, NS, in 1972 where she worked in the business for several more years. After her husband sold the franchise in 1990, they spent their retirement years between their farm in Centre Burlington (Hants Co.), cottage at Loon Lake (Kings Co.) and winter home in Homestead, Fla. From May 2013 to January 2018, Grace resided at The Berkeley (Bedford, NS) and the last 6 months at Ivy Meadows nursing home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 17, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Atlantic Funeral Home, 125 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville, where funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, at 1 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. The reception will follow in the funeral home reception centre. Burial will be in Oakridge Memory Gardens, Lower Sackville.
